As the days on which
the Jews had rest
from their enemies,
as the month which
was turned from
sorrow to joy for
them, and from
mourning to a holiday;
that they should make
them days of feasting
and joy, of sending
presents to one
another and gifts to
the poor.
Esther 9:22

Purim is a day of
giving pleasure.  For
this reason we
perform
tzedakah(giving to
those in need; justice)
by donating food to
the poor.

For this reason we
ask every guest to
bring at least two can
goods.  These will be
given to the Union
Mission to help build
up their food supply.
We can see in the
book of Esther
that Haman is a
picture of the
Anti-Christ spirit
and kingdom
which will arise
against the
church and seek
to destroy God's
people.

Queen Esther
may be pictured
as a type of the
church bringing
deliverance to
God's people in
the last days as
all believers
come together in
fasting and prayer.

But the end of all
things is at hand;
therefore be
serious and
watchful in your
prayers.
1 Peter 4:7

Esther is a
perfect example
as how important
unity in the bride
of Christ is.

An example of
how we can't
stand against the
enemy as long as
we stand against
each other.

The bride of
Christ must stand
united!
Even though the
name of God does
not appear in the
book of Esther His
presence is
overwhelming.

Esther is a story
of God's
compassion and
everlasting love
for His people.

Hamantaschen

Hamantaschen
means Haman's
pockets, but really,
the triangle-shaped
cookies look like the
hat Haman
supposedly wore.
The cookies are
sweet tasting, filled
with either a poppy
seed or fruit mixture
(usually prune).

Honey Dough

4 cups flour
1 teaspoon baking
soda
1/2 teaspoon salt
4 eggs
1 cup honey
1/4 pound butter,
melted

Preheat the oven to
350.  Sift the dry
ingredients together
into a large bowl.
Add the eggs, honey,
and butter, and mix.
Roll out on a lightly
floured board.  This
is a very sticky
dough; you might
need to add a little
flour to get the
dough flat.  With a
glass of a diameter
of three or four
inches, cut circles in
the dough, rolling it
out again and again
until it is all in
circles.  Put a little
filling in the center of
each circle, and fold
the edges to make
three corners.  Bake
for 30 minutes.  Let
the hamantaschen
cool, and give them
away to your friends
and family.  Makes
about 48 cookies.

Prune Filling

1 pound cooked
prunes
1 teaspoon grated
orange rind
1/2 cup nuts
1/4 teaspoon salt
1/4 teaspoon vanilla
extract

In a large bowl, chop
the prunes, then add
the other
ingredients, and mix
well.

About these fillings:
any fruit preserves
can be used.  And
the poppy seed filling
comes already
made, in a can.
The setting of the
book of Esther
was the king's
palace in
Shushan.
Shushan is the
Persian capital,
which is located
just north of the
Persian Gulf.
This is what we
know today as
the modern Iran.
The event took
place during the
reign of King
Ahasuerus.
During his reign
the Queen Vashti
had displeased
the king and had
been disposed
from her royal
throne.

Remember everything
in the Old Testament
is a shadow of the
New.
Vashti represents the
Old Covenant.  Under
the New Covenant
Jew and Gentile
become one and the
church was born.  The
bride of Christ that
will bring deliverance
to her people

After Vashti was
dethroned
certain virgins
were chosen to
go through
months pf
purification.  One
young maiden
would be chosen
to be the royal
queen.

The king's servant
prepared Esther for
her union with the
king by prescribing
six months of oil of
myrrh which was a
form of purification -
and six months of
sweet oils which
were for
beautification.
Esther 2:12

Esther did not choose
what she would wear,
nor how she would
prepare herself for
the king.
Esther 2:15

She left it up to
the king's
servant and
followed his
advice.

This is an awesome
revelation!

Esther was
submissive to the
king's servant and
had a teachable spirit.
 She was preparing
for her with the help
of his servant.  The
king's servant of
course represents
the Holy Spirit.  We,
the bride of Christ
must prepare for our
Bridegroom, Yeshua,
Jesus.  We do this by
submitting to the
working of the Holy
Spirit in our lives.  The
Holy Spirit shows the
bride (us) how to live
for the Bridegroom
and not for herself.

And He died for all,
that those who live
should live no longer
for themselves, but
for Him who died for
them and rose again.
2 Corinthians 5:15

Esther was no longer
living for herself.  She
was living for her king
and her people.  She
was a bride set apart.
Consecrated for her
king and her king
alone.

To be consecrated is
to be holy.  Holiness
can only come
through yielding to the
Holy Spirit.

The consecrated
bride of Yeshua is His
treasured possession.

Just as Esther
obtained mercy and
favor in the sight of
the king we too obtain
mercy and favor in the
sight of our king.

The bride of Yeshua is
His witness

His servant

His worshipper

His army!

Just as Esther
showed strength by
doing battle with the
enemy the bride of
Christ also does
battle with the enemy.

We are strong in the
Lord and in the power
of His might.
Esther 2: 22-23 tells
us how Mordecai
overheard two of the
king's eunuchs
planning to harm the
king.  Shortly after
that night in the
king's palace was an
Agagite, a
descendant of
Amalek, Esau, by the
name of Haman.  This
is important to know
because Haman
carried with in his
heart a satanic
hatred for the Jewish
people.

When the Jews
realized the death
decree which hung
over their heads and
they realized their
days were numbered
great mourning fell
upon them.

Mordecai tore his
clothes in bitter
anguish, put on
sackcloth and
covered himself with
ashes.  He pleaded
with Queen Esther to
intercede before the
king on behalf of her
people.

"Do not think in your
heart that you will
escape in the king's
palace any more than
all the other Jews.
For if you remain
completely silent at
this time, relief and
deliverance will arise
for the Jews from
another place, but
you and your father's
house will perish.
Yet who knows
whether you have
come to the kingdom
for such a time as
this?"
Then Esther told
them to reply to
Mordecai:
"Go, gather all the
Jews who are
present in Shushan,
and fast for me;
neither eat nor drink
for three days, night
or day.  My maids
and I will fast
likewise.  And so I
will go to the king,
which is against the
law; and if I perish, I
perish!"
So Mordecai went his
way and did
according to all that
Esther commanded
him.

Now it happened on
the third day that
Esther put on her
royal robes and
stood in the inner
court of the king's
palace, across from
the king's house,
while the king sat on
his royal throne in the
royal house, facing
the entrance of the
house.  So it was,
when the king saw
Queen Esther
standing in the court,
that she found favor
in his sight, and the
king held out to
Esther the golden
scepter that was in
his hand.  Then
Esther went near and
touched the top of the
scepter.  And the
king said to
her,"What do you
wish, Queen Esther?
What is your
request?  It shall be
given to you - up to
half the kingdom!"
Esther 4:13-17
5:1-3

Upon Esther's
request the king,
along with Haman
attended banquets
which Esther
prepared.  After the
first banquet the king
could not sleep.  He
knew Esther had
risked her own life to
approach him.  So he
knew whatever her
request was it was
important.

During his sleepless
night he had
someone to read the
kingdom chronicles
to him.  The account
of Mordecai had
never been rewarded
so he called Haman
in and asked him
what he thought
should be done for a
person the king
desired to honor.

Haman filled with
pride thought the king
wanted to honor him.
So of course he
describes what
reward he would like
to receive for himself.

When Haman
realized the reward
was for Modecai and
not him he was
disgusted and
humiliated and he
went home with his
head hung and
whining.

At the next banquet
when Esther exposes
Haman as the enemy
he knew his life was
in danger.  So he
threw himself on the
Queen begging for
mercy.

But remember
The same portion of
mercy that you show
others will be the
same portion of
mercy that you will
receive.

Haman and his ten
sons hung from the
very gallows he had
prepared for
Mordecai.

The king gave to
Esther all of Haman's
possessions and his
own ring which he
had given to Haman.

His ring of course
signified kingdom
authority!

What once belonged
to the enemy now
belongs to the King's
bride!

Our King Yeshua has
given us all of His
possessions!

Including His name,
power and authority!
We have the authority
to use His name over
the enemy!

The Story of Esther
The story of deliverance

The Jews had light and gladness, joy and honor
Esther 8:16

As the days on which the Jews had rest from their enemies, as the
month which was turned from sorrow to joy for them, and from
mourning to a holiday; that they should make them days of feasting
and joy, of sending presents to one another and gifts to the poor.
Esther 9:22

Pur in the Persian language simply means "lot."

The Hebrew "im" ending makes the word plural
"lots"

Lots is somewhat like drawing straws.

It was this method that was chosen in the book of Esther to
determine the date upon which vengeance would fall upon the
Jewish people.

Once again in the story of Esther we see that the enemy had
sought to destroy the Jews as a race.

Jehovah God had the last word!

Once again God's people were delivered from the enemy!

So, the Feast of Purim is known as the Feast of Deliverance.

It is a time of rejoicing and gladness.

This feast is known as the merriest holiday on the Jewish calendar.

The primary focus during this ceremony of Purim is the reading
of the megillah.

The book of Esther

During Purim the divine command to blot out the name Haman is
taken literally.

When Haman's name is read from the scroll of Esther the
hearers make a terrible noise.  They bang pots and pans, blow a
shofar, use a grogger, beat a drum etc...

Some write Haman's name on the bottom of their shoes and they
stomp their feet.

The Jews had light and gladness, joy and honor.
Esther 8:16

There is victory in Jesus and there is deliverance
from the enemy to all who put their trust in Him!

This victory will result in a spiritual Purim!

The bride of Yeshua
and

The King of kings

Lord of lords

Will be the instrument that God uses to crush the
head of the serpent.

It will be a day of gladness and feasting
A good day!
We will have rest from the enemy
Our sorrow will turn to joy
Our mourning to a holiday

The enemy is under our feet!

The gates of hell shall not prevail!

And He put all things under Jesus' feet and gave Him to be
head over all things to the church. (the bride of Christ)
Which is His body.
The fullness of Him who fills all in all.
Ephesians 1:22-23

We have victory in Jesus!

We have victory over the enemy!

Now in the twelfth month, that is, the month of Adar,
on the thirteenth day, the time came for the king's
command and his decree to be executed.  On the day
that the enemies of the Jews had hoped to overpower
them,
the opposite occurred, in that the Jews
themselves overpowered those who hated them.
Esther 9:1

Understand how powerful this scripture is!

On the day Jesus died on the cross the enemy, Satan,
hoped to overpower Him and us...

But on the third day...

He Arose!

God highly exalted Him and gave Him the
name which is above every name!

That at the name of Jesus every knee shall bow and every
tongue confess that Jesus Christ is Lord to the glory of God
the Father.

Jesus overpowered those who hated Him

The enemy must bow at the name of Jesus!

Every Anti-Christ spirit that has ever risen against the
Jewish people and or the bride of Christ must bow

From Haman to Hitler

From Hitler to Saddam

And on and on

The Feast of Purim is a celebration of deliverance
Still today our God is more than able to deliver us
from any situation.

He is the same yesterday, today and forever more!

He is more than able to deliver you from the
Haman in your life.

Today your Haman may be sickness or addiction or
anything that seeks to destroy you.

What ever your situation is God is able to deliver you!

The message of Esther is to all who come against the nation of
Israel and God's people.

We must remember to come against Israel is to come against God.
To hate Israel is to hate God.
The Lord said in Zechariah 2:8 "He who touches Israel touches the
apple of His eye."

God blesses men to the exact degree that they bless the children of
Israel.
And the curses that are meant against Israel He brings back upon the
heads of her enemies.

God made it very clear in Isaiah 54:17 - no weapons formed against
you shall prosper and every tongue which rises against you in
judgment shall be condemned.

If America wants to stay a blessed nation we must continue to stand
with Israel.

All who has an ear let them hear

Who knows whether you have come to the kingdom for such a time as this!

We are living in evil days.
This is a time for fasting and prayer.
The end of all things as we know it is at hand.
Therefore be serious and watchful in your prayers.
Just as Esther fell down at the feet of her king
Let us humble ourselves and enter into the king's chamber
Let us be willing to travail in prayer
Shedding tears for our country, Israel and for all who is lost
For how can we endure to see the evil that will come to our people
Or how can we endure to see the destruction of our countrymen?

Our God is a Mighty Deliverer

That is what Purim is all about
"Deliverance"

Let Esther be our example
With intercession comes deliverance
Pray for the peace of Israel
Pray for our country
Our leaders
And our loved ones

Pray for the coming of our King
For there will be no true peace until the Prince of Peace (Sar Shalom) comes.
Even so Lord Jesus come! Come!

Out of mercy and love for Esther the king gave permission
to write a counter decree.

The Jews had great joy and gladness

And great fear fell on the people and many converted and
became Jews

Haman sought to wipe out the worship of the one true God

The God that prevented men from bowing to him

He wanted control as many anti - Christ spirits do today

But instead we see in Esther 8:17 many of the people of the
land became Jews because fear of the Jews fell upon them

In the book of Acts after receiving the infilling of the Holy
Ghost Peter preached with great boldness

Fear came upon every soul and many signs were done in
the name of Jesus

Three thousand souls were added to the kingdom of God
that day!

In the last days fear will once again come upon the land

Hebrews 2:3 says, and how shall we escape if we neglect so great a salvation?

There is only one way to escape

Jesus the Mighty Deliverer

He is the deliverer of all who put their trust in Him!

The enemy is a defeated foe!

Just like Haman was defeated Jesus defeated Satan for us!

So let's join in the feast of Purim and celebrate our victory!

Thanks be to God who gives us the victory through our
Lord Jesus Christ!
